Help us keep the buoys in the water
PlayBuoy is a growing volunteer network in the Haugesund region. We expand gradually with more swim spots — see the map and buoy list on the site for what is live today. The goal is more monitored locations in the region, with clear information at beaches and lakes.
PlayBuoy is a volunteer project — built in spare time with private funding. The website, API and buoys are self-operated. The data is and always will be free.
Your support and sponsorship make it possible to expand the network, put up signs at swim spots, and keep the buoys in the water.
Hosting & operations
Website on Vercel, API and database server hosted locally — privately operated.
Each buoy takes many hours beyond the listed parts — 3D printing, assembly and testing are all done on a volunteer basis.
Support helps keep the project going — not for profit, but so we can keep building without funding everything from our own pocket.

The NOK 3,000–4,500 figures cover materials and first-year operations only. Over 40 hours of 3D printing and assembly per buoy is volunteer work not included in the table. Sponsorship packages from NOK 8,500 also cover deployment (transport, safe water access, heavy anchor), signs, sponsor visibility, maintenance priority, and a fair share of planning and build time — otherwise all of that still comes from private time and money.
